Nashville Predators vs. Edmonton Oilers 11/3/21 Preview: Oil Country

Nashville Predators

Our most handsome captain leads the team in points with 9 (3 goals, 6 assists). Mikael Granlund, Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, and Matt Duchene are also top on the leaderboard…as they ought to be. Guys like Tanner Jeannot and Colton Sissons are contributing, too. This is…exactly what we want to see?

I’d like to see Yakov Trenin and Phil Tomasino pot some more goals on this road trip, and Edmonton’s defense might offer some opportunities for both of these players as they are fans of playing in the “royal road” in front of the goaltender. Eeli Tolvanen should be afforded some power play snipe chances, too.

Edmonton Oilers

Both Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have 17 points on this young season (7 goals and 10 assists). They’re out for blood after a disappointing playoffs and several seasons of falling short. The Oilers have strung together two wins – one against Seattle and one against Vancouver.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, freshly signed to a big contract this summer, has 11 assists. Jesse Puljujarvi, one of my favorite non-Predators, has 9 points (2 goals, 7 assists). Puljujarvi likes to park himself in front of the opponent’s net during Edmonton power plays – Edmonton’s power play is certainly at the top of the League.

Former Leaf Zach Hyman has blended in flawlessly with the Oilers. He has 6 goals and 2 assists. Former Predator Kyle Turris was initially sent to Bakersfield (Edmonton’s AHL squad), but injuries prompted his recall. He has one goal. Duncan Keith is also an Oiler now. Make of that what you will.

Keep Your Eye on This Guy

My vote goes to…Connor McDavid…duh. Here’s why:

For Nashville, my player to watch is Alexandre Carrier. He’s been a defensive beast over these last few games, and I sense a few goals are coming from him. His partner, Mattias Ekholm, might be another player to watch tonight and on this road trip.

Reasons to Watch

-The World Series is over, so you can watch hockey and stop pretending to care about baseball.

-Edmonton is a FUN team to watch.

-I love watching Nashville put together wins and learn from their mistakes in their last game. They’re watching their video, listening to the coaching staff, and putting the pieces together.
