Nashville Predators vs. Edmonton Oilers: Finally Back Home

The Nashville Predators return back home after an extended stay on the road. They take on the Oilers for the second time this season. It will be nice for the Preds to be back in familiar territory after they went 4-2-0 on their six game CMA road trip. The last time these two teams met, Nashville got the better of the match up, winning 4-1.

Things began to look up towards the end of the trip, as the special teams started to click. They were beginning to score on the power play (somewhat consistently) and were able to keep the puck out of the net, for the most part, on the penalty kill. They look to continue their recent success against Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are once again on a win streak as they head into a match up with the Preds. It’s not a four game win streak like they were on last time, but a two game win streak isn’t anything to overlook. In the last two games, they are averaging three goals a game, while only giving up a goal and a half. They are playing some solid, fast paced hockey, and that is partly the reason they are finding some success as of late.

Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins all have ten points, which leads the team. RNH has really began to come into his own. He has started to progress into a great talent, and it is really starting to show on the ice.

The last time these two teams met, the Preds got after the Oilers goaltending. If they do the same tonight, I expect the same result as last time. But if their goaltending plays as well as they have been the last two, it could swing the other way. Either way, it should be a fun game.

The Nashville Predators

The Preds are really starting to impress the critics around the league. On this week’s Melrose Minute on NHL.com, he went on to praise the Preds for their great play. Even Jeremy Roenick was impressed with Nashville after the win in St. Louis. He went on to tweet this after the game.

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but Filip Forsberg is the real deal guys. He is on a tear right now. #PrinceFilip is almost scoring at will these days. And being at home, with the raucous Bridgestone crowd behind him, should bode well in his production. James Neal is also been unreal as of late. Between him and Forsberg, I can’t wait for the games to come on now.

In Pekka Rinne’s one loss on the road trip, he gave up four goals. That is uncharacteristic of how he has been playing this year. If he has one of those games tonight, it will be a long night. But I wouldn’t expect that from him. At least not tonight.

Reason To Watch Go To The Game

This is the second of six games this year that is not televised. So go down to the arena and welcome back the Preds tonight. You can get your tickets here.

Drink Choice For Game Time

Beer. Because that is the best thing to drink at the arena. Go to the game people!

Like I said before, tonight’s game is not televised. So if you are heading down to the arena, puck drops at 7:00 pm CST.
