New Ice Complex Coming to Sumner County

Today the Nashville Predators, Sabertooth Sports & Entertainment, LLC, and the Sumner County Tourism Board announced plans for a new ice complex to be built in Sumner County.

The 54-acre mixed use development project, located between Gallatin and Hendersonville near Shute Lane and Nashville Pike, will be anchored around the newest Ford Ice Center. Plans for the development area, locally referred to as “the Goat Farm”, include the ice complex with two NHL regulation ice rinks and seating for nearly 1,800 spectators, restaurant and retail spaces, and venues for entertainment.

This new ice complex will join Ford Ice Center Antioch and Ford Ice Center Bellvue to provide access to youth, adult, and disabled hockey programs in Middle Tennessee. The project in Sumner County benefits not only the community,  but the sport of hockey as well, according to Nashville Predators CEO Sean Henry.

“We break down barriers. We open our sport to more and more kids,” said Henry. “We get rid of the financial excuses, we get rid of the geographical excuses, and all of a sudden you have more kids playing more sports.”

Sean Henry was joined by Mayor Paige Brown of Gallatin, Mayor of Hendersonville Jamie Clary, and Sumner County Mayor Anthony Holt making the announcement.

Sumner County Mayor Holt sees tremendous opportunities ahead with the addition of the new complex.

“This will not only be a county and city venue, it will be a a regional venue, a multi-state destination venue. And what I’m really excited about is being branded by the Nashville Predators,” Mayor Holt declared. “This is truly a win for Gallatin, Sumner County, and Hendersonville.”

The newest Ford Ice Center is slated to open in approximately ten months.
