OTF Game Night: 3 Games on the Menu Tonight

Since the Predators don’t get into action until tomorrow night at St. Louis, let’s fire up another game thread for those of you who want to check out tonight’s trio of games from around the NHL…

And remember, if you weren’t around last evening or haven’t been in a Game Thread for a while, please review our OTF Community Guidelines first!

Toronto @ Philadelphia (6:30 PM, Center Ice)

Fresh off beating the Canadiens in Montreal last night, the Maple Leafs head into Philly for the Flyers‘ opener. If you’re playing Fantasy Hockey load up on your Leafs, because Steve Mason is starting in goal for Philadelphia.

Buffalo @ Detroit (7 PM, NBC Sports)

The Red Wings try a new division rivalry on for size as they host the Sabres.

Anaheim @ Colorado (8:30 PM, Center Ice)

First overall pick, Nathan MacKinnon, makes his NHL debut for the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center tonight. The Ducks start their season attempting to prove what they did last year was not a fluke.

And to keep you busy until game time, a few afternoon tidbits:

And outstanding choice, if you ask me. Hornqvist is an underrated player who is very intense and competitive on the ice, all while keeping a cool head. For a guy who takes as much abuse as he does in front of the net, he rarely retaliates. And who knows, maybe this will gain him a little extra respect from the officials and draw a few more calls.

Well, this sucks, as the Preds will already miss Viktor Stalberg. Filip Forsberg is a real X factor for the team this season, so I can’t wait to see how he performs.

Martin Erat searching for clarity in his role with Capitals – Washington Post
Marty didn’t play very much last night, and is wondering where he fits with the Caps right now.
