Season Overview
Filip Forsberg made himself known as a dangerous goal scorer during the 2015-16 campaign. In a breakout year, he posted a team leading 33 goals and 64 points in 82 regular season games. The 21-year-old left winger had a slow start to the season, but really picked up the pace after the All-Star game, scoring 19 goals in 32 games. Forsberg also proved he could be a versatile winger as the top two lines were constantly juggled throughout the course of the season.

The acquisition of Ryan Johansen showed what Forsberg was truly capable of, as his second half surge propelled the Predators into the playoffs. Johansen and Forsberg gelled on the top line, which was much needed for Joey after a rough year in Columbus. Forsberg showed he can be heavily relied upon as a first line scorer, which was a big question considering his young age. He silenced the critics and was rewarded with a six-year, $36 million contract.
Best Moment of the Season?
Forsberg was a human highlight reel last season making his best moment of the season hard to choose. The one that stood out the most was his between-the-legs goal against the Colorado Avalanche, which came on a 5-on-3 power play to put the Predators up 2-0. It was Forsberg’s 32nd goal of the season, and helped lead the Preds to a 4-3 victory.
Worst Moment of the Season?
Forsberg’s worst moment of the season was his playoff performance as he only put up four points in 14 games and did not look like his regular season self. After the season ended, Forsberg revealed that he was battling a back injury, and that he was not 100% for the playoffs and part of the regular season.
Trending Up or Down?
The future is very bright for Forsberg as he has led the team in scoring in his first two full seasons with the team while also eclipsing the 30 goal mark last season and set a team rookie record for points with 63 during the 2014-15 season.
Forsberg continues to trend up as the years go by and he is shaping up to be one of the league’s most feared scorers and also continues to embrace his role as the most heavily relied on players on the team. General Manager David Poile also seems to believe Forsberg is on the rise given his new contract and praise he continues to give to Forsberg. Forsberg made it clear he was happy to be in Nashville and the pressure was no issue, and by the looks of things, there is no reason to not believe him.

Forsberg’s overall grade for the season is definitely an A+ due to his highlight reel goals, his versatility, and his ability to make everyone around him better. He is the foundation this team needs to make a Stanley Cup run in the near future and bring glory to the city of Nashville.
