The 28-year-old blue liner spent last season was with the Boston Bruins for the 2015-16 campaign but only played two games with the Bruins. He spent 64 games in the AHL with the Providence Bruins where he scored five goals and added 25 helpers in 64 games played.
Irwin, six-foot-one, is a left-handed shot. His best NHL season came with the San Jose Sharks in 2013-14 where he had two goals and 18 assists in 62 games played.
This one is interesting, more to come as the details unfold.
