Per reports from Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston, the Nashville Predators have signed goaltender Juuse Saros to a 8-year extension – at $7.74 million per year.
The deal cannot become official until Monday (July 1st) – the start of the new league year, but reportedly the deal with the young netminder is done and will take effect starting in the 2025-26 season. Saros is entering the final year of the 4-year, $5 million AAV deal that he signed under former General Manager David Poile in 2021.
Update: Per Frank Seravalli, the Predators plan to keep goaltender and former first-round pick Yaroslav Askarov in Milwaukee next season – so it appears for now that Askarov will not be dealt this offseason.
Update: Chris Johnston is now reporting that the deal will be 8 years, $7.74 million per year.
