With all the news flying around with trades and draft picks coming at lightning speed, some news flowed under the rader. Rich Clune is being placed on unconditional waivers for purposes of a buyout.

2015-2016 is the last year of Clune’s contract, in which he’s poised to make $850,000. It became clear very early in the season that Peter Laviolette did not have a place for him on his roster. Clune played just one game for the Predators last season, before becoming a healthy scratch and ultimately being sent to AHL Milwaukee.
What he lacked in skill on the ice, he more than made up for in personality and charisma. Clune was one of the most well liked players in the locker room, and his Twitter and Instagram posts became the stuff of legends. Hockey needs more players willing to show they’re personality the way Dicky does.
