Nashville Predators 3, San Jose Sharks 0: Carter Hutton earns 1st NHL shutout

The Nashville Predators continued their torrid pace of late, pushing their recent record to 6-1-1 with an impressive 3-0 win at San Jose tonight. Carter Hutton earned the first shutout of his NHL career, withstanding a furious push by the Sharks in the third period, while Patric Hornqvist scored twice in the first period and Roman Josi adding an insurance goal in the second.

Next up, the 35-32-11 Preds play at Dallas on Tuesday.

Random Observations

  • Patric Hornqvist joined Shea Weber, Craig Smith and Mike Fisher in the team’s 20-goal club.
  • Michael Del Zotto, Colton Sissons and Patrick Eaves were your scratches tonight. The Del Zotto situation is going to be worth watching very closely this summer.
  • Yes, the team has a glimmer of mathematical hope for the playoffs. They’d need to win out and have both Dallas and Phoenix lose the rest of the way, basically.
  • Stay tuned for a bunch of articles (not from me) touting how the team is playing great and should carry this momentum into the summer & next season. Do you buy it?
