Sunday’s Dump & Chase: Regroup?

Recap: Nashville Predators 4, Winnipeg Jets 6: Youth shine in ugly game | On the Forecheck
So that, uh, could have gone better.

After five consecutive road games, Seattle Kraken finally make home debut in ‘great night for the NHL’ | ESPN
I’m glad for Seattle hockey fans that they finally have a team of their own, though the game didn’t go as most of them probably wished.

Maple Leafs questioning their belief in wake of Penguins blowout | Sportsnet.ca
Winning games isn’t as simple as believing you can win them, whatever the argument about the Penguins is, but losing games might sometimes be as simple as believing you can’t win them, and it’s possible at this point the Maple Leafs do have a confidence issue.

Short-handed Pittsburgh Penguins lose defenseman Kris Letang to COVID-19 protocol | ESPN
Speaking of which, the Penguins were already missing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, as well as their acting 1C (Jeff Carter), which feels like it could be the lede to a story from anywhere in the last ten years. Best wishes to Letang, family, and teammates.

Rangers want top prospect for Vitali Kravtsov after he refused AHL assignment | Sportsnet.ca
The actual surprising thing about this story is the implication that there are multiple teams interested in Kravtsov despite his refusal to report to Hartford. Is the NHL actually changing its attitude?

Goaltender Matt Murray injured in third period as New York Rangers rally to stun Ottawa Senators | ESPN
I’d almost forgotten with all the human-interest/team dynamic stories about Chris Kreider that he’s been moonlighting as a goalie hitman for years. Almost, but not quite. Best wishes to Murray also.

Jack Eichel could file grievance if situation with Sabres isn’t resolved | Sportsnet.ca
I’m guessing the current CBA gives the team the final say on this kind of thing to prevent players from undergoing procedures that aren’t supported by current medical science, but, as with so many aspects of the CBA, it doesn’t do much to protect players from management.

…Can we get some hockey news that isn’t injury or illness? Please?
