Butcher signs three-year contract with Devils, avoids arbitration hearing | NHL.com

Avalanche sign defenseman Samuel Girard to seven-year extension | Sportsnet
Meanwhile our old spinny friend got slightly overpaid (for now, at least) by the Avs, securing a 7 year extension with an AAV of $5 million.

I understand the logic, but I don’t know how much of a difference it’s ultimately going to make.
