David Poile Named 2017 NHL General Manager of the Year – Nashville Predators
Despite whatever you think of losing Neal, don’t doubt for one second that Poile has a plan. He should have won this award a few times by now.

Honestly, all the love in the world to Matthews, but I would’ve gone Werenski-Laine-Matthews. Without Zach Werenski, the Blue Jackets would have been a bottom three team in the NHL. Laine had more points per game than Matthews. If you give the Calder to Matthews for him making the biggest difference to his team as a rookie, you’re wrong. If you give it to him for being the best rookie, you’re wrong. Plus, defensemen get absolutely robbed in this award year after year, save for the rare exception of 2015.
