Thursday’s Dump & Chase: Wheels in motion

Why this Stanley Cup is so important to Indigenous players Brandon Montour and Zach Whitecloud
Having Whitecloud and Montour both in the Cup Final is a source of great pride for both the players and their communities.

“It’s a cool experience for a lot of our youth in our communities. … It’s about sending a message to a lot of those kids that this is possible,” said Whitecloud, who is in his third full season with the Golden Knights. “Dreaming and going after your dreams are attainable. That’s the most important part for me.”

Sleepless Brandon Montour rushed to welcome baby between Games 1 and 2
Brandon Montour had no clue his wife, Ryian, had gone into labour when he stepped on the ice Saturday for his Stanley Cup Final debut. After the game, he was immediately on a plane and was able to make it in time for the birth. Luke Fox has more on a whirlwind few days for Montour.

Speaking of Brandon Montour, he’s had a busy Final.

Panthers expect Gudas in G3; Bobrovsky to start
Panthers defenseman Radko Gudas is expected to play Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final while Sergei Bobrovsky will remain Florida’s starting goaltender.

Wallstedt of Wild leads AHL Top Prospects Team
Minnesota Wild goalie prospect Jesper Wallstedt headlined the inaugural American Hockey League Top Prospects Team, which was announced Wednesday, one day before the start of the Calder Cup Final between Coachella Valley (Seattle Kraken) and Hershey (Washington Capitals).

No Milwaukee Admirals player made the (very small) list.

What the Kings, Flyers, Blue Jackets got in off-season’s first three-way trade
Tuesday brought the first three-way trade of the summer as Los Angeles, Columbus and Philadelphia came together. Jason Bukala breaks down the big additions and what they offer.

Ah, yes, the classic “it’s not cap circumvention if it’s in a three-way” move.

Wicked Angles: Once again, I need y’all to learn more names than Hilary Knight’s
Hmmm.

I’m really excited to see what some of these younger players do with their careers–and hey, if any of you want to watch a 14-year-old score a lacrosse goal in international play (the Women’s U18 tournament this past January), Slovakia’s Nela Lopušanová has you covered.
