Tuesday’s Dump & Chase: It’s Done.

Smashville News:

There was a hockey game last night. I am confident that an excellent recap is either to the right of or underneath of this post.

Predators got good additions with Mikael Granlund, Wayne Simmonds. Can they respond? | The Tennessean – I agree with the points made in this article. I am glad that we added experience and talent without mortgaging the team’s future. Best of luck to Kevin Fiala and Ryan Hartman. Maybe this will shake the guys out of their funk.

Preds Recall Matt Donovan; Place Dan Hamhuis on Injured Reserve | NHL.com – Why have the injury gods frowned on us this year? We’re back to four people on the IR. I hope this means that we’ll have a healthy playoff run.

Jones & Johansen reminisce about ‘the trade’ three years later | Sportsnet.ca – Just a couple of dudes chatting about one of the biggest days of their lives. Great piece!

Weekly Edge: It’s time for the Predators to start Juuse Saros more | AtoZ Sports – I agree that Juuse Saros should get more starts. Also, if the Predators would win more than every other game, maybe Peter Laviolette would consider it.

Heavy rains destroy Hendersonville Hockey rinks | WZTV – This is sad. The GoFundMe seems low at a $5,000 ask. Maybe someone out there would like to help.

This week we have a guest pupper. Tula, the mini golden, belongs to the Craig Smiths and recently completed puppy obedience school. What a pretty puppy!

Central Division News:

Wild trades Granlund to Nashville, Staal gets two-year extension | Star Tribune – A view from the other side. It is amazing that someone can be traded in the middle of their fiancée having a baby.

Flyers trade Wayne Simmonds to Nashville, reunite him with Peter Laviolette | philly.com – Again, the view from the other side. At least his fiancée wasn’t in labor.

Winnipeg gets stronger down the middle with Kevin Hayes trade | The Hockey NewsWonderful. I guess we will see if Kevin Hayes will be the Winnipeg Jets 2019’s Paul Stastny.

Crawford activated from injured reserve by Blackhawks | NHL.com – I continue to have mixed feelings about this. Will the next concussion be one more time or one too many times? Take care of yourself first, Corey Crawford.

Other Hockey News:

Jets, Golden Knights among winners, Maple Leafs and Flames among losers on deadline day | TheHockeyNews – Can you guess the winners and losers after this year’s trade deadline?

Hey, NHL, It’s too much (outside) hockey | clickondetroit.com – What do you think? I would be fine with just the Winter Classic. Sometimes with all the social media workup to these outdoor games, by the time it happens, I’m pretty much over it.

Super Slow Mo: Week 20 | NHL.com – Here we go…expectations are low. Hello Pekka Rinne. Ouch. There’s Ovi from his office. Filip Forsberg – you are a beautiful man. Waiting…more waiting…Hi Rocco Grimaldi. Nice breakaway tally. Well, I guess I should be glad there wasn’t more goalie humiliation included. Ha…Ha…Ha…Colorado Avalanche bench. Sigh. Maybe next week.

If NHL is really concerned about player safety, it’s time to bring its rule book into the 21st Century | Edmonton Journal – Some interesting thoughts here. What are your thoughts on the IIHF head check rules? I think that someone sitting out for a sixth of the game might be a great deterrent. Also, they need to stop the Wheel of Justice at the DOPS.

St. Cloud State’s top-ranked hockey team gets stranded in blizzard | Star Tribune – “The Huskies’ bus got stuck on a road near St. James, where the sheriff gave them shelter and food — and would have put them up in the county jail, if needed.” Check this out.
