Tuesday’s Dump & Chase: The Cup Calls

Nashville Predators News

Forsbergs Have Long Enjoyed Watching the Other Play
I’m a big Filip Forsberg fan, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I distinctly remember the day that Peter Forsberg came to the Predators and it’s interesting to see how much the team has changed in 10 years. One Forsberg watching another. Very cool.

Why is Gary Bettman stalling on the Olympics? – Tim Wharnsby on hockey – NHL on CBC Sports – Analysis
Adding on to the discussion from yesterday. Bettman, understandably, is still blaming the IOC, while the IOC and the IIHF, understandably, are still not paying for the cost of NHL players attending the Olympics. This is as clear and as indestructible a stalemate as we could have.

Thomas Greiss agrees to contract with Islanders
A guy that made himself known as one of the better backups in the league is now handed the keys (officially) to the starting job for the next three years. Good deal.

John Tortorella returns to Blue Jackets
Glad to see Torts is back. Hope all is well.

Horvat should be playing with Hansen, if speed matters to Canucks | The Province
“The 30 centres who are playing the most this season are averaging 37 points. Horvat has 32, leads his team, and is doing it from what has been a definitive third-line role.”

Yeah, that’s impressive.

Former NHL goalies break down Lundqvist’s struggles
I guess I didn’t realize how bad things had gotten for King Henrik. Puck Daddy is putting together a goalie intervention for the guy.

Michal Rozsival out 3 weeks, opening opportunity for Gustav Forsling – Chicago Tribune
I thought Forsling had a better chance to stick with the team earlier in the season. Turns out I was wrong, but now he gets a chance as an injury replacement.

Metropolitan Division reset
I don’t see this division shaking up too much by the end of the season. The Penguins, Capitals, and Blue Jackets all make the playoffs easily, while the Rangers and Flyers battle for a Wild Card.
