Wednesday’s Dump & Chase: Contenders vs. Pretenders

Hockey News & Rants

Nashville Predators 2, Anaheim Ducks 3: Forsberg’s Late Effort Not Enough, Preds Suffer Embarrassing Loss | OnTheForecheck
This team is something else. I’m not saying they’re doomed, but I’m in that weird “not to be dramatic” phase that hits right before sudden doom.

Predators: Mikael Granlund fitting in just fine, plans to move family | The Tennessean
I wonder if there is a running stat of how many hockey players have been traded while their significant other is in labor?

On the bright side at least baby Granlund will never have to worry about learning what a “Wild” is.

What is the ideal final four in the Stanley Cup playoffs? | ESPN
I’m honestly surprised there are still people who have the Preds in the final four. With the way things have been going they’ll be lucky to make it past the first round.

Although the last time I said those words out loud and guaranteed my mother they would be ousted by the Blackhawks, they swept them in four games and went on to the Stanley Cup Final.

Hockey is weird and lesser Preds teams have beaten the odds.

NHL clears Maple Leafs’ Morgan Rielly of accusations that he directed homophobic slur at referee | CBS Sports

Blackhawks embrace challenge trying to earn playoff spot | NHL
The Blackhawks are going to rally to make a deep playoff run, almost win the cup, and then somehow figure out a way to sign Artemi Panarin long-term this summer aren’t they?

Oilers winger Milan Lucic talks about the NHL’s brand of justice | Edmonton Sun
I think it’s a good message from the league that even superstars aren’t above player safety. If you start penalizing them like you do everyone else the league is safer, which is exactly the point.

NHL Rumors: Latest Buzz on Artemi Panarin, Oilers and More | Bleacher Report
Panarin is going to end up back in Chicago, isn’t he? He’ll take Bob with him just to spite Tortorella.

NHL Seattle to open season-ticket and suites preview center by honoring longtime Totems star Guyle Fielder | Seattle Times
Seattle is ready for hockey 2021. Meanwhile the rest of the league isn’t even ready for the postseason 2019.

Power Rankings: The Playoff Picture Is Slowly Coming Into Focus | Sports Illustrated
Slowly might be an understatement. With the way some of these teams are playing it might come down to the wire.

NHL roundup: Sharks move into first place in Pacific | KFGO
The Sharks are rolling and despite them breaking the Preds in the 2016 playoffs, I can’t really find a reason not to like them.

NHL: Wild fall, fail to gain ground on Blues | St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Hockey has not been good to the Minnesota Wild this season.

Minnesota’s All-Hockey Hair Team is back for the final time and their manes are glorious as ever | CBS Sports
Man…Minnesota seems like a uh…interesting place.

Haley Joel Osment Set to be Celebrity Guest on ‘Hockey Night In LA’ | NHL
I will trade the Kings half our country music stars for Retta.
