Wednesday’s Dump & Chase: Stay Gold

Hockey News & Rants

Nashville Predators 5, Vegas Golden Knights 2: Offense Pours It On in Rinne’s First Vegas Win | On The Forecheck
When I heard Roman Josi dropped gloves with Mark Stone, I immediately turned into that burning Elmo .gif and was really concerned with how this one was going to end.

Luckily the better gold team won, hopefully without any lasting repercussions…

Filip Forsberg is on track to be a 40-goal scorer this season, so hopefully he’s okay and his absence was just a precaution.

Predators’ Daniel Carr: Placed on waivers | CBS Sports
I just said a few days ago I thought we’d be seeing more of Carr…and…well…here we are. Not sure what happened here, but David Poile clearly seems to be cutting his losses early with this one.

Nashville Predators: What the latest roster move signals for the Preds | AtoZ Sports
With Carr potentially being picked up off waivers that leaves the roster open to potential call-ups from Milwaukee.  Eeli Tolvanen and Rem Pitlick are first on that list, and I think fans are ready to see more of Tolvanen this season given how hard he worked this summer.

Meanwhile…

It seems Kyle Turris could be likely to be traded relatively soon. While a lot of people have been speculating about him being traded since the end of last season, it seems to be picking up some steam again. Anything reported by Bob McKenzie is usually worth keeping any eye on.

Milwaukee Musings: Don’t Talk About Des Moines | On The Forecheck
“You and I remember Des Moines very differently.” – Ads players to one another…probably.

Eric and Rachel are catching you up on everything Admirals hockey.

The NHL’s shot location data has changed—and nobody knows why (Update: …or do they?) | On The Forecheck
What exactly is going on with the NHL’s shot location data? Bryan’s got you covered with everything you need to know about the change.

The Kings are covering up Taylor Swift’s ‘eyesore’ of a banner | Los Angeles Times
This is both the pettiest and most hockey superstitious thing I’ve ever heard…and I’m 100% here for it.

That banner is also a tragedy. I don’t even like Taylor Swift and even I think the arena could have sprung for a nicer banner.

Ahead of Schedule: Colorado Avalanche are the only undefeated team in the NHL | Mile High Hockey
Having a great start is nice and all, until it’s not. If history has taught us anything a great start doesn’t always been a great finish. I won’t wish them well since the Preds may eventually have to play them again in the playoffs…so just uh…don’t run out of steam before it counts, Avs!

Brad Marchand did a very Brad Marchand thing (and other fun NHL stuff) | CBC Sports
It wouldn’t really be hockey season without Brad Marchand doing Brad Marchand things.

Since this one didn’t include anyone getting a head injury or their faces licked, and it was against the Anaheim Ducks, I think it’s ok to laugh.

Cup champion Blues visit Trump at White House | ESPN
Regardless of your political views I think we can all agree this was just…awkward.

I don’t remember who said it on Twitter, but they mentioned we should get rid of the White House visit all together, since, ya know, most of the players are from Canada and Eastern Europe and it really makes zero sense. [Ed.: It was me. (And also Sara Civian.)]

NHL Power Rankings: How much worse can things get for the New Jersey Devils? | CBS Sports
Fake Twitter accounts popped up today, just to spread fake Tweets about New Jersey Devils’ head coach John Hynes being fired.

New Jersey hasn’t left him stranded at an arena after a road game yet, but since I’m here to speculate…it’s only a matter of time before they probably do.

Chinese billionaire partners with L.A. Kings to bring hockey to China’s youth | NBC News
Maybe the Kings can get the Chinese billionaires to make them a better Taylor Swift banner while they’re at it.

NHL commissioner Bettman: Hockey and Minnesota ‘inseparable’ | Grand Forks Herald
This is great and all, but may I suggest we stop calling Minnesota the “State of Hockey” until they’re not this close to being dead last in the league?

Or until they finally explain to us what a Wild is?
