Hockey News & Rants

Nashville Predators 8, New York Islanders 3: Preds Explode With 8 Goals on Long Island | On the Forecheck
Holy mother of goals!

That loss in Buffalo must have left the Preds feeling some type of way about New York. This was just…brutal.

We like this.

We love this.

We would like some more of this.

Please.

Viktor Arvidsson could be back soon for Predators | The Tennessean
Viktor Arvidsson could be back in the lineup…soon?

How soon is soon?

Soon is too vague. The people need to know!

The Cost of Being A Hockey Fan: What Rising Prices in Nashville Mean | On the Forecheck
As a former season ticket holder I’ve seen first hand how much the prices have changed in the past five years, and from a fan point of view I understand how difficult that is and how frustrating it is (especially when the team is playing like hot garbage) but from a business-minded point of view…it’s just business.

Bridgestone has undergone millions of dollars in upgrades in the past few years. It’s practically a new building. While the upgrades are fantastic and (mostly) needed, it’s exactly the reason why season ticket prices are constantly going up. Someone has to pay for those upgrades.

On the plus side, taking pride in your home arena is part of what keeps people coming back season after season. Bad hockey doesn’t last forever, but it does hit the wallet a little harder than good hockey.

Rangers believe refs blew call on violent Pavel Buchnevich collision | New York Post
As of Tuesday night it doesn’t look like Ryan Ellis will be facing any disciplinary action for his hit on Pavel Buchnevich.

Luckily Buchnevich returned to the game and seems to be okay.

NHL experts predict Coyotes’ final record, Taylor Hall’s free-agent home, Devils’ next steps | ESPN
Now that Matt Duchene finally landed in Nashville and #DucheneWatch has officially ended for now it was only a matter of time before another player emerged to speculate wildly about.

Enter one Taylor Hall.

Well…that lasted all of about three weeks.

Hall lands in Arizona.

All right…who’s next on the list?

Flyers coach Alain Vigneault breaks down the hits, displeased with NHL’s 3-game suspension for Joel Farabee | NBC Sports
The Department of Player Safety is getting coal from everyone this year, apparently.

It might just be me, but there seems to be a bit of inconsistency with discipline this season. Then again, it’s all subjective and handled case by case so who can really tell anymore?

NHL rumors: Ex-Sharks coach Peter DeBoer ‘willing to listen’ to offers | NBC Sports
And the revolving door of NHL coaches claims another one.

Peter DeBoer probably could have used some more time in San Jose, but the league is moving at such a fast pace these days you either adapt and overcome or get the stanky boot. Coaches are no exception.

Canadiens won’t trade away future to make Stanley Cup Playoffs | NHL
Sure, but would they kindly consider trading Shea Weber back to Nashville?

NHL gets an early season reminder about the value of sometimes-overlooked backup goalies | Seattle Times
Never underestimate your backup goalie.

One day their coach might be telling them they’re not good enough for the NHL, and then less than a decade later they might just become the starting goalie for the Buffalo Sabres.

Wait…is Carter Hutton Buffalo’s starter?

Uh, never mind, this was a terrible example.

Everyone hug your backup tendie.
