2016 World Juniors: Vladislav Kamenev comes up big for Team Russia in OT thriller

Russia was down 2-3 with 44 seconds to go when Vladislav Kamenev came up huge for his team, tying it up and scoring his first of the game. From the point, forward Artur Lauta fanned on a slapshot which ended right on the captain’s stick. Kamenev then slid the puck under the right arm of the Danish goaltender giving Russia light once more in the game.

The final seconds ticked down and the game then went into overtime. Once again, Kamenev came up in the clutch for Team Russia when he took a pass from defenseman Ivan Provorov (drafted seventh overall by Philadelphia in the 2015 NHL draft) in the slot and put it home for his second goal of the game.

For his efforts Vladislav Kamenev was named the first star of the game, receiving an electric razor, which, funnily enough, many of the players don’t even need yet. Russia will move on to play the winner of the USA-Czech Republic game which will take place at 12 P.M. Central Time (NHL Network.)

Kamenev, who has said many times he wants to use this tournament as a springboard to the NHL, seems to be well on his way with 4 goals and 1 assist in 5 games for Russia.
