Per TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the NHL came out today with a two-game suspension for Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson for his boarding of Buffalo’s Jason Pominville last night (follow that link for the video). This will keep him out of the lineup for tomorrow night’s game with the Predators, as well as Friday at Columbus. The Blackhawks are already missing offensive defenseman Brian Campbell due to injury.
Of course, the Preds will be shorthanded themselves, as they’ll miss #1 goaltender Pekka Rinne and top-line winger Martin Erat. Anders Lindback will make his first NHL start in goal, and Wade Belak will suit up in Erat’s place (well, not exactly, Predneck).
