Dallas Stars 7, Nashville Predators 3: Rinne torched in the Texas heat

Travelling to play a game on no rest is tough enough in the NHL, but it’s even tougher when your opponent is well rested, so to some extent tonight’s lopsided 7-3 Nashville Predators loss was predictable.

That didn’t make it any more enjoyable, however.

For the fifth time in his last six games, Pekka Rinne was lit up, staying in net for all seven goals against, his worst outing since April 10 2009, when he gave up six goals in an 8-4 loss at Minnesota.

Calle Jarnkrok kept up his point-per-game pace with an assist on Michael Del Zotto’s goal, his first as a Nashville Predator. Patric Hornqvist and Eric Nystrom got the other Nashville goals, but that was about it for the positive notes.

Next up, the Preds (32-32-11) return home for a rare Sunday evening date against superstar Alex Ovechkin Joel Ward and the Washington Capitals.
