Friday’s Dump & Chase: The Road to Nashville…

Nashville Predators News

Are Predators wise in demoting hyped prospect Tolvanen? – ProHockeyTalk
I have lots of thoughts on this article. First, I would much rather see Tolvanen in the AHL than in the KHL. Of course the “ten games in the AHL probably leads to the KHL” clause does complicate things a bit. I have to look at it this way, the AHL assignment prevents the Preds from burning a year of the ELC. If Eeli Tolvanen will find the kind of success he needs to make it in the NHL this year, he’ll show it in Milwaukee within 10 games. If not, it’s off to the KHL to mature another year and come back and try again. Of course, if he shows his stuff off in the AHL, then they can bring him back up and surreptitiously send Zac Rinaldo down (because you know they’re keeping him). Although, I’m willing to bet that they’ll keep Frederick Gaudreau and trade him out for Tolvanen.

Preds Believe Assigning Tolvanen to AHL is Best for Development
Filip Forsberg (who spent some time in Milwaukee and developed just fine, thankyouverymuch) chimes in with his impressions on how Tolvanen will adjust quickly once he hits Milwaukee.

2018-19 Nashville Predators Position Preview: Bottom Four Defensemen – On the Forecheck
If you love Anthony Bitetto, Yannick Weber, and Matt Irwin as much as I do, then you’ll love this article by my 3rd/4th favorite writer on this site. Also, I liked the Hamhuis visuals in this article and he confirmed everything I hoped he would be when I went to the game on Tuesday. I’m ready for the Hammer!

With Perry out five months, who will step up for Ducks? – TheHockeyNews
First, I have to ask the question, “Why wait until right before the season starts to undergo surgery?” Of course, we’re talking about Corey Perry here, so nothing really makes sense. What’s most funny to me is that when I read this headline, I feel like they’re asking me who will step into his shoes as the “worst person on the Anaheim Ducks”, but there are already so many horrible people on the team that it’ll be a real challenge to narrow it down to just one.

Blues’ Robert Bortuzzo suspended by NHL for elbowing – Sportsnet.ca
The worst part of this hit is Michal Kempny’s head hitting the ice. Robert Bortuzzo’s suspension carries into the regular season…so at least it matters.

I’m sorry, but I’m here for Gritty. This mascot is the fever-nightmare I only want to happen to my worst enemy (and he relishes this role):

Because no other players are known for their style or taste in clothing…right?

We’re Going to Vegas | By Max Pacioretty
I’m not sure how I missed posting this one, but with his new deal, I hope Max Pacioretty can afford some new sheet for his boys.

Greg’s Hot Takes

My friend Greg went to the preseason game with me the other night and had a few “hot takes” he wanted me to put in “my little article”:

  1. Bad passing. No, bad receiving of those passes.
  2. Great goaltending.
  3. Terrible officials—they need a preseason, too.
  4. The Carolina Hurricanes look like the Stanley Cup Champions of the preseason.
  5. Paul’s voice was in midseason form!
  6. Great new ribbons and soundsystem.
  7. If we don’t want to lose to a team 1-4, we need to take more than 29 shots on goal.
