Hump Day Highlights: Ryan Suter’s legacy, and are the Stars falling?

Last night we had a great Tweetup at Riverfront Tavern in Nashville, hosted by Preds radio play-by-play man Tom Callahan (@PredsRadio). Jay Levin, who runs the Predators website, was also there, along with Codey from Section 303 and a number of fans (@jodystapley, @predsgirl, and @ericshuff among others) who are ready for hockey season to get underway. With almost a month to go before the first home preseason game, the only good way to vent our energy these days is to defend the team’s honor against insane predictions and snide articles written by “experts”.

After the jump, we’ve got a look at Ryan Suter‘s “legacy” role on Team USA, a new set of budget constraints for a Western Conference rival, the question of whether David Legwand will ever don the red, white & blue, and your chance to work alongside Tom Callahan on Preds radio broadcasts…

Dallas Stars won’t be affected by financial troubles, source says – Dallas Morning News
While Dallas Stars owner Tom Hicks works through financial problems related to other sports holdings (such as the Liverpool soccer team), the message communicated is that the Stars should be OK, and that they’ll continue to operate as normal. The following quote from the tail end of the article, however, sounds quite different: “For the first time in the NHL salary cap era, Dallas will spend significantly under the cap, as the Stars have an estimated budget of $45 million for next season with an NHL salary cap of $56.8 million.”
