Milwaukee Admirals set their Clear Day roster

The Milwaukee Admirals have set their “Clear Day” roster, which is the list of guys eligible to participate in the AHL playoffs and compete for the Calder Cup. This comes from the team’s PR:

The Milwaukee Admirals announced today the team’s 2011 Clear Day Roster, consisting of two goalies and 20 skaters. The 22-man roster designates the players eligible to compete in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, with players in residence added as needed due to injury or recall.

According to AHL by-laws, only those players listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the 2010-11 AHL regular season and in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

The following players comprise the Admirals Clear Day Roster:

Goaltenders (2): Mark Dekanich, Jeremy Smith

Skaters (20): Mike Bartlett, Steve Begin, Jonathan Blum, Gabriel Bourque, Ryan Flynn, Scott Ford, Blake Geoffrion, Matt Halischuk, Aaron Johnson, Roman Josi, Linus Klasen, Teemu Laakso, Grant Lewis, Chris Mueller, Brett Palin, Mark Santorelli, Ryan Thang, Andreas Thuresson, Mark Van Guilder, Kelsey Wilson

In Residence (4): Patrick Coulombe, Dylan Hunter, Brock McBride, Connor Shields

So what’s interesting here? Anders Lindback and Nick Spaling aren’t included, meaning they’re in Nashville to stay (no big surprise there), while Blum, Geoffrion and Halischuk are available. Note the text about junior and college players, as well. We may well get a glimpse of Ryan Ellis, Taylor Beck and/or Michael Latta in an Admirals uniform depending on how things shake out!

It’s also notable that Wade Belak is not listed here after being assigned to the Admirals recently. He is listed on their roster as a defenseman, but hasn’t played there yet. Even more interestingly, he’s apparently hosting tomorrow night’s radio show at Blackstone, just like usual!
