Yakov Trenin helping younger Russian players get settled in Nashville is a great story (though I still think teams should have staff to help with that too–it’s fantastic that Trenin is paying it forward, but it would have been nice if there’d been someone to help him when he was the rookie, too).

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Norris Trophy defenceman Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks in a three-team trade which also includes the Montreal Canadiens.

I do not love the idea of Karlsson in Pittsburgh, but I suspect he’s going to have a blast there.

Dubas becomes Pens GM along with team prez
Kyle Dubas has decided not to hire a GM to work under him as Penguins president of hockey operations, instead choosing to serve in that role, as well.

Kyle Dubas is going to be busy.

Byfield ready to have healthy start with Kings
Quinton Byfield’s magical hockey moves were on display Sunday, drawing loud gasps of admiration from the hundreds of spectators watching him.

Good luck to him.

Defenceman Matt Dumba has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Arizona Coyotes

Well, that’s an interesting development.
