Monday’s Dump & Chase: Milwaukee Dreamin’

Admirals sail into conference finals

After an OT loss on Friday night, the Admirals took the series in a decisive Game 5 win. They’ll face the Coachella Valley Firebirds (affiliate of the Seattle Kraken) in the Western Conference Finals starting Thursday night–we’ll have a series preview for you before then!

Ehlers expects Jets to make offseason changes after disappointing finish
Nikolaj Ehlers understands there’ll be change this summer for the Winnipeg Jets following another disappointing end.

Something probably is going to happen, but whether it’ll be the right thing is a much bigger question.

Why Flames got it right by choosing Conroy as next general manager
The Calgary Flames got it right by hiring Craig Conroy to be their new GM. The people’s choice will be announced Tuesday as the organization’s choice to lead the franchise into a new era — a tricky new chapter that requires familiarity, above all.

You do have to wonder why so often a NHL management group will look at what they’ve got, declare themselves unsatisfied, and promote someone who was part of what they weren’t satisfied with.

CT gov. wants to coax Coyotes away from Arizona
Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said Friday he’s planning to meet with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman about the possibility of moving the Arizona Coyotes to Hartford.

I could be wrong here, but I feel like if the Coyotes leave Arizona (which I don’t think Bettman wants) and leave not only somewhere that even might be considered the Central Division (which I don’t think Bettman wants) but the entire Western Conference (which I don’t think anyone who does scheduling wants), it’s probably not going to be Hartford Whalers 2.0.

Do you put Detroit back in the West if you move the Coyotes to Hartford or Quebec? Maybe Columbus? It’s just silly.

‘Game of mistakes’: Stars stumble, lose G2 in OT
In what Dallas coach Pete DeBoer labeled “a game of mistakes,” the Stars’ miscues cost them Sunday, as the Vegas Golden Knights rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory that gave them a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference finals.

The Stars have gone down 0-2 in the Western Conference Finals.

Stone doing it all for Golden Knights in playoffs following injuries
To the surprise of no one around the NHL, Mark Stone was right in the middle of the play that led to Brett Howden’s overtime goal Friday.

At least (so far) they’re not praising him playing horrifically injured–they’re actually praising him for not playing horrifically injured, and getting surgery and taking time to rehab. More of this, please.

Hurricanes reeling from another OT loss at home in Game 2 of East Final
The quiet in the Carolina Hurricanes’ postgame locker room spoke to the disappointment they felt after coming out on the wrong end in overtime again against the Florida Panthers.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been very, very good.

So has Matthew Tkachuk.
