Colorado Avalanche All-Star Nathan MacKinnon, the NHL’s second-leading scorer entering play on Saturday, left his club’s 4-0 loss to the Florida Panthers after his chin hit the ice during a headfirst fall during the third period.

Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly has been given the option of an in-person hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his cross-checking penalty at the end of Saturday’s game with Ottawa.

I don’t know enough about British law to be sure of what exactly is going on here, but if this should end up going to trial, that must be an incredibly strange situation.

After the Vancouver Canucks beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime, head coach Rick Tocchet said he thought Conor Garland and Nils Hoglander were his best skaters.
I feel like describing anything the Canucks have been doing this season as “slumping” is a stretch.

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin scored his 57th career empty-net goal on Saturday afternoon in a victory over the Boston Bruins, breaking a tie with Hall of Fame center Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history.
