Nashville Predators 2016-17 Player Report Cards: Colton Sissons

After seeing glimpses of what Colton Sissons could be in a Nashville Predators uniform during the regular season, the former captain of the Milwaukee Admirals showed why the Ads gave him that accolade with his performance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Season Overview

First of, lets take a look at his stats for the season.

As you can see, Sissons didn’t get to see the ice as much as he would’ve liked during the season, and most of that is due to his inconsistency during his first stint in the lineup.

Three of his eight goals came against the Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. In the middle of the season,  Sissons saw his role on the team change to a healthy scratch after the Preds acquired the likes of P.A. Parenteau, Vernon Fiddler and Cody McLeod.

Sissons finally broke into the lineup again, making his case for a permanent spot after his game against San Jose in March.

Sissons saw his role increase even more in a way during the playoffs, when top center Ryan Johansen’s thigh nearly erupted on the ice during game four of the Western Conference Finals. Sissons didn’t just move up the depth chart— he was thrown onto the top line with sniper Filip Forsberg and fellow new first liner Pontus Aberg.

Sissons took advantage of moving to the top line and helped the Predators close out the Anaheim Ducks in six games… which brings me to the next portion of the article.

Best Moment of the Season

Was there really any question?

Sissons became the first player since Patrick Kane (2013) to score a hat trick in a series clinching Conference Final game.

Worst Moment

I would honestly say that the worst moment for Colton Sissons this year was when he was sitting out as a scratch during the regular season.

But then there is also this…

Trending up or down?

Based of the last three months of Colton Sissons hockey, I can safely say he is going up. He will likely be a staple of the team’s bottom six moving forward, regardless of what happens with Mike Fisher.
