The Chicago Blackhawks were in the Music City to take on the Predators in the rivalry that Chicago says isn’t – unless they can’t buy tickets to the game.
The Preds start the first period like their pants are on fire. They amp up the offensive pressure and fire shots at will on Corey Crawford. They outshot the Blackhawks 11-2 in the first half of the period but no dice. Chicago flips a switch and they start firing at will. A penalty on Bitetto gives the Hawks a man advantage and Patrick Kane buries one to give Chicago a 1-0 lead.
The Preds come out firing in the second period and have two fantastic shifts, however, they resulted in no goals. The Blackhawks are gift wrapped a power play and right on que Jordin Tootoo puts Chicago up 2-0. One minute later, Viktor Arvidsson says enough is enough, and he slides one past Crawford and the Preds are on the board. Final minute of the period and Jonathan Toews the NHL’s “first star of the month” knocks one in and the Blackhawks regain their two-goal lead. Moments later, Calle Jarnkrok snipes one in and the Preds are back within one.
Four minutes into the third period, Viktor Arvidsson scores his second goal of the game and ties this puppy up. Brian Campbell breaks the scoreless tie and they follow it up with an empty netter. This one is over.
Random Observations
- Forsberg with a shot on goal eight seconds in. He is hype.
- This Preds power play lighting up the Blackhawk net, no goals though
- Cody McLeod and Jordin Tootoo beating the crap out of each other because hockey
- Wrong time to take a penalty boys
- And like clockwork Kane tallies on the power play
- Preds come out firing in the second period, they have had a great couple of shifts
- Kevin Fiala has looked quite impressive tonight
- Viktor Arvidsson we are not worthy
- What, a Blackhawk power play that shouldn’t have happened?
- Jarnkrok with the snipe to get one back
- The energizer bunny strikes again! Arvidsson with two tonight/
OTF’s Super Duper Stars of the Game
- Viktor Arvidsson – two goals and a whole lot of energy! I would hate to think where this team would be without him
- Calle Jarnkrok – he scored a goal to get the Preds back in it right after they went up 3-1. He might have prevented this game from getting out of hand
- Kevin Fiala – he didn’t show up on the score sheet, but he was all over the ice and had a couple of good looks tonight
