The Predators may not admit it. They definitely won’t say it. But the way they played Saturday night in Bridgestone Arena showed this team was out for revenge.

The first period was uneventful. Both teams had a few scoring chances but not much going on. Ryan Ellis got the Preds on the board first with two seconds before the period ended.

The second period was an offensive explosion. Viktor “Superman” Arvidsson won a face off and set up James Neal for his fourth goal in as many games to extend the Preds lead to 2-0. Three minutes later, Arvidsson burned the Ducks again, this time feeding Colton Sissons for the short handed goal to give the Preds a 3-0 lead. Filip Forsberg would not let the second period end without breaking his goal scoring drought. Forsberg hulk-smashed the puck past John Gibson and chased the Ducks goalie from the game.

Cody Bass gave his knuckles a workout, throwing down not once but twice. The first fight against Jared Boll was nothing to write home about. The second one however was pure fireworks. Bass hit Manson with some lefts, then some rights, then introduced him to the ice.

In the third, James Neal decided a four goal lead was not enough as he blasted his second of the game past Jonathan Bernier. Pekka Rinne put on a show in goal and that was all she wrote.

Random Observations

It has been a somewhat uneventful beginning to this game. A few back-and-forth’s here and there but nothing really eye catching
As soon as I type that Ryan Ellis drives home a goal with :02 left in the period
Uh oh, four minutes on the penalty kill against this Ducks team is not exactly ideal
Pekka Rinne has been lights out tonight. He has come up with some ridiculous saves, and has single handedly kept the Ducks at bay…Ducks AT BAY. Ok, I’ll stop
MONSTER BLOCK
Things are getting chippy between the two teams, it smells like a fight is about to break out at some point
Well, Cody Bass must have heard me because he and Jared Boll are trading fists. Boll landed a few more; Bass mostly just held on and swung wildly when he had an opening
James Neal may just be the hottest player in the NHL right now
The Predators penalty kill has been “on fleek” as the kids would say
Shorty! Arvidsson with the beautiful pass to set up Sissons. Arvidsson has been far and away the Predators best player this season
#9 scored a goal. * checks roster * … yeah thats Filip Forsberg alright, he’s back!
Cody Bass: round two. This time Josh Manson steps into the ring. Bass hits Manson with a few shots, tackles both him and a ref to the ground, throws his helmet, and skates into the locker room. In the music business they call that a mic drop.

OTF’s Super Duper Stars of the Game

Pekka Rinne – With the exception of maybe James Neal, Pekka has been the Predators best player over the last six games. He is playing like vintage Pekka Rinne, which in case you didn’t know is elite.
Viktor Arvidsson – his two assists tonight match a career-high. Putting him on the top line with Johansen and Neal might have been the best thing Peter Laviolette has done all season.
Filip Forsberg – we finally have a goal for No. 9! It took 14 games, but Forsberg as finally been released from goal scoring purgatory. He entered the game as the team leader in points despite not registering a single goal. Now that he finally has one, it will be interesting to see if the flood gates open for him.
