Nashville Predators assign Atte Engren to Milwaukee

From the Nashville Predators:

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Atte Engren (AH-tay EHN-grehn) to Milwaukee (AHL).

Engren, 23 (2/19/88), will be making his North American debut with the Admirals after spending his entire career up to this point in his native Finland. Nashville’s ninth choice, 204th overall (seventh round), in the 2007 Entry Draft has manned the net for TPS Turku of the Finnish Elite League (SM-Liiga) the past two seasons. As a rookie in 2009-10, he received the 2010 Urpo Ylonen Trophy as the League’s best goaltender after leading Turku to a Finnish Elite League title. In 2010-11, the 6-1, 186-pounder tied for fifth among netminders in games played (51), posting a 2.82 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. The Rauma, Finland native signed a two-year contract with Nashville on May 25, 2010.

The Preds’ goaltending depth has been a tremendous asset this season, as we’ve seen with Anders Lindback‘s surprising performance as Pekka Rinne‘s backup, and the stellar work Mark Dekanich has put together in Milwaukee. Do we have another Scandinavian sensation on the way? It looks like we’ll get a glimpse down the stretch…

The Preds have a huge week coming up with Edmonton here on Tuesday, Anaheim on Thursday, and Dallas on Saturday night. Take the OTF Discount to save money on Nashville Predators tickets for these, or any other home game!
