Nashville Predators at Boston Bruins Preview: Shipping Up to Boston

Tonight is game three of the season at Boston. Let’s do this.

Nashville Predators
It’s way too early to overreact to this team after two games, but I saw a lot of things to like against Seattle and a lot of things to dislike against Tampa Bay. I suppose Dante Fabbro will remain in the lineup for Luke Schenn. Schenn was announced out with a lower body injury on Thursday, and unless there’s an update from the team, expect #57 to suit up.

Juuse Saros was otherworldy on Thursday, posting his 21st career shutout. The guys are off to Boston, and they’re dressed to kill:

Colton Sissons’ shorthanded (!!!) goal really set Thursday’s pace. The Predators were responsive, mobile, and most of all….dynamic.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins are celebrating their 100th season, and it’s sure to be a fairly rowdy night. This is a team that is a little confusing, now that it’s missing Patrice Bergeron. I am not sure what to make of them. Will they lead the Atlantic like they did last season? Could they fall down the standings a bit? It’s hard to tell yet.

Milan Lucic is back in black and gold, and Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman have the net on lockdown. Nashville only sees Boston twice a season, so this is a nice early test against a team many expect to remain at the top of the Atlantic and the East. You’ll want to watch for Brad Marchand’s antics and David Pastrnak’s goal-scoring magic tonight.

Reasons to Watch

  1. Boston is historic, storied, and I’m sure it’ll be a party
  2. Saturday night hockey is a good way to round out a long day of football

Keep Your Eye on This Guy

The easy answer is Ryan O’Reilly and his excellent play over two games, but I’m watching out for Cole Smith. He had at least two excellent chances against Seattle, and if he scores, Twitter/X might just explode. Can Smith prove his worth to this fanbase? I know Smith won’t be afraid to throw his weight around if Boston gets chippy, too.

Tonight’s Theme Song

Isn’t it obvious?

How to Watch

Tonight’s puck drop is at 6:00 Central. Bally Sports TN has the broadcast, 102.5 The Game has the radio call, and OTF will have a game day thread.
