While there was some question as to whether they’d be able to do so, the Nashville Predators report that they have indeed bought out defenseman Brett Lebda this morning.
Acquired in the Matt Lombardi & Cody Franson to Toronto deal, Lebda was apparently nothing more than a financial counterweight to the transaction. Since his contract was due to pay him $1.45 million next season, he’ll instead get $478,500 over the next two seasons.
