NHL.com’s Mike Morrealle provided some interesting updates this morning after a conversation with Nashville Predators head coach Barry Trotz:
Trotz expects both Colin Wilson (shoulder) and Pekka Rinne (hip) to be fine for training camp. Rinne could miss the opening two days though

Also, Barry Trotz confirmed that goalie Carton Hutton will “no doubt” back up Rinne to open the season. Magnus Hellberg is “getting there”

It’s interesting to see Trotz dismiss Hellberg’s chance of winning the backup job out of hand considering his solid work for Milwaukee last season.
Do you find this concerning as a Nashville Predators fan, given the fact that Rinne is still recovering from off-season hip surgery? Recall that Hutton has but one game of NHL experience, and his recent work in the AHL doesn’t exactly scream future superstar:
Double the Opportunity for Seth Jones?
In addition, there was a note that Seth Jones should get ready to play on both sides of the Nashville blueline, a development which will play a huge part in how the depth chart on defense shakes out.
