Nashville Predators 7, Minnesota Wild 3: Craig Smith scores twice in season finale

Once again, the goals poured forth for the Nashville Predators, as they routed the Minnesota Wild 7-3 in their season finale. This marks the third time in their last six games that the Preds scored at least five times, and it came on the heels of last night’s wild 7-5 victory over Chicago.

Craig Smith led the scoring charge with two goals and two assists, as he passed Shea Weber for the team goal-scoring lead with 24 this season. Along the way, Rich Clune, Ryan Ellis, Roman Josi and Calle Jarnkrok also scored.

Next up, the 38-32-12 Predators have plenty of questions to answer during the days and weeks ahead. Does their strong finish give them cause to hold off any major changes, selling the notion that this is a team on the rise? Or will we indeed see a new era begin in Smashville. Stay tuned, folks…

Random Observations

  • Matt Cooke, what a piece of garbage.
  • It’s hard to know how much to read out of performances like this and last night, given the fact that both the Blackhawks and Wild didn’t care about the result and were focused on the upcoming playoffs.
  • Craig Smith and Calle Jarnkrok would sure look nice on a line together to start next season, though.
