Who Was the Nashville Predators’ MVP for the 2013 Season?

While this season didn’t end up like Nashville Predators fans had hoped, there were some outstanding individual performances which are worth remembering. The question for this morning, then, is whom would you pick as the team’s Most Valuable Player for this year?

The candidates are…

David Legwand

#11 / Center / Nashville Predators

2012 – David Legwand 48 12 13 25 -6 20 2 0 2 78 15.4

Leggy played all 48 games and led the team in goal-scoring. Pro-rated over 82 games, he was on pace for a 42-point season, right in line with his production of recent years.

Pekka Rinne

#35 / Goalie / Nashville Predators

6-5

2012 – Pekka Rinne 43 2444 15 16 8 99 2.43 1101 1002 .910 5

A lack of run support impacted Rinne’s won-loss totals greatly this season, as did sub-par penalty killing. If you just look at Even Strength save percentage (probably our best statistical gauge of true goaltending talent), Pekka’s performance this year (.927) was indistinguishable from 2011-2012 (.928), and he tied for the league lead in Shutouts with 5.

Shea Weber

#6 / Defenseman / Nashville Predators

6-4

GP G A P +/- PIM PPG SHG GWG SOG PCT
2012 – Shea Weber 48 9 19 28 -2 48 3 0 1 124 7.3

After a slow start (no points in his first nine games), Weber’s scoring came on strong, and he ended up leading the team with 28 points and 124 shots on goal.

Colin Wilson

#33 / Left Wing / Nashville Predators

6-1

Oct 20, 1989

GP G A P +/- PIM PPG SHG GWG SOG PCT
2012 – Colin Wilson 25 7 12 19 +1 4 2 0 1 26 26.9

Willy charged to the fore as the team’s leading scorer before a shoulder injury ended his campaign on March 9 against Minnesota. After that point the team went 6-14-4 and any hope of qualifying for the playoffs dried up.
