The Predators traded the 79th pick to Dallas for two picks in the 2024 draft, which meant their next was the 83rd. With it, they added defender Dylan MacKinnon from the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads.
MacKinnon is a lower-scoring, high-physicality defender. He had 23 points in 61 games last season with the Mooseheads, while racking up 75 PIM (including three fighting majors, in a league trying to cut down on fights). In the playoffs, he managed two assists and 14 PIM in 20 games.
