Nashville Selects Adam Wilsby 101st Overall

With a pick acquired from the Minnesota Wild in the Nick Bonino deal, the Nashville Predators selected defender Adam Wilsby from Skellefteå AIK of the top Swedish league. An overager, this was Wilsby’s third and final year of draft eligibility, and he helped secure his selection with a 30-point season in 41 games in the HockeyAllsvenskan—Sweden’s second tier league—last year.

I’m not always keen on overage players, but I like Wilsby’s game. He’s flashed potential to be an excellent player in transition with some offensive skill. His skating mechanics have really developed into a top asset of his, but I’d like to see him turn that edge control and rotational power in his hips into better timing with his pivots, gap closures, and recovery speed when battling for a puck.

Wilsby has played four games in the SHL this season and recorded zero points.
