P.K. Subban on Injured Reserve

The Predators released some depressing news regarding P.K. Subban this morning, though it shouldn’t come as much of a shock if you’ve been paying attention.

P.K. Subban has been place on IR and will be reevaluated in two to three weeks. From Brooks Bratten and the Predators website:

The Nashville Predators have placed defenseman P.K. Subban on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury, and his status will be reevaluated in approximately two to three weeks.

Subban last played on Dec. 15 and has been out of the lineup since with the ailment. In 29 games with the Predators this season, the blueliner has recorded seven goals and 17 points, including three tallies with the man advantage.

This follows somewhat with what Elliot Friedman has been reporting, though maybe not quite as grim.

Obviously this means Subban will miss the chance to play against his former team on Tuesday night, but there’s a much larger issue. If the rumors are true, the Predators could be without Subban for quite some time. This would leave them to fight a playoff spot without their highest paid defensemen. Subban is an elite, Norris Trophy winning offensive defensemen. His absence makes this team less dangerous and, frankly, less exciting to watch.

According to Adam Vingan, Subban will address the media on Tuesday morning. In other news, the Predators assigned Adam Pardy to Milwaukee and waived Reid Boucher.

Get well soon, P.K.
