Preview: Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars 5/1/21: Fortitude

Nashville Predators

Ryan Johansen and Roman Josi shared similar thoughts in Friday’s media availability. Here’s Johansen’s comment:

“[It’s a big moment for] myself and our young guys to go out there and have a big impact on this game that could be a difference maker in making the playoffs or not. We’re pumped up.”

The Predators need a regulation win tonight, however, any kind of points are useful. The Stars have to face the Panthers and the Lightning (twice) next week, but the Predators see the Blue Jackets. The Stars have a tougher schedule and it’s time to take advantage of it.

Expect the young Juuse Saros in net. However, the five guys on ice in front of him need to do better at limiting shot attempts.

Yesterday, the Predators updated the statuses of Dante Fabbro, Alex Carrier, Viktor Arvidsson, and Filip Forsberg. They are now day-to-day. That’s very positive for the Predators.

Dallas Stars

The Stars lost to the Hurricanes and the Lightning last week. We all (Nashville fans) became Canes and Bolts fans briefly.

The Stars are dealing with injury woes of their own, with Ben Bishop and Alexander Radulov shut down for the season. Young guys like Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger have stepped up, however. Joel Kiviranta returned to the lineup against the Lightning, as well.

The Stars should be just as motivated as Nashville tonight – I’d expect physicality, big hits, and massive plays from both sides. I expect it’ll come down to goaltending and maximum effort from rookies and veterans alike.

Reasons to Watch

-There’s really only one thing to do – just win, baby, win.

-Send these guys your vibes, prayers, good thoughts, ESP waves…whatever you have to do. Support your guys in gold from near or far.

-The Predators and the Stars have been on a crash course since the 2019 playoffs. The Winter Classic debacle simply poured salt in Nashville’s wounds, but Dallas has a recent Cup Final loss behind them. Both teams have a lot to prove with this showdown.
