Saturday’s Dump & Chase: Rest in Peace, Mr. Hockey

Nashville Predators News & Notes

Predators, Filip Forsberg working on contract extension | The Tennessean
I’m really interested to see what they end up paying Fil. Something about his nice guy personality makes me think he’ll take a discount but who knows?

Mattias Ekholm’s Excellent Evolution | The Hockey Writers
Pretty crazy stat: all of Matthias Ekholm’s goals in the playoffs either were tying or go-ahead goals.

NHL News & Notes

The Toughest NHL Players of All Time | Men’s Fitness
Once again, Gordie Howe was the man, though he actually only achieved the “Gordie Howe Hattrick” (a goal, an assist, and a fight) twice in his fabled career.

Pittsburgh Penguins regrouping with aim of winning the Stanley Cup in San Jose | ESPN
Pittsburgh would definitely like to close this one out as opposed to waiting until game seven but I always hate seeing teams win the cup in the opposing team’s building. The whole celebration kind of loses a bit of its pizzazz.

NHL: Pittsburgh goalkeeper Matt Murray’s confidence hardly shaken by Game 5 setback | The Salt Lake Tribune
Matt Murray has a great attitude. He’ll be a fantastic goalie in the NHL for a long time.

NHL teams receiving information on potential expansion draft | Sportsnet.ca
Interesting tidbit: “Teams will also be permitted to ask players to waive their no-movement clauses for inclusion in the expansion draft.” Also, the Predators would have to protect all AHL players (they deem worthy) over the age of 19 at the time of the expansion draft.

NHL Rumors: NHL Draft – Blue Jackets, Canucks and Oilers
Apparently two substantial offers have been made to the Columbus Blue Jackets, who apparently aren’t sold on Jesse Puljujarvi. That’s interesting coming from Columbus as their GM is Finnish and you would think they have a great presence in Finland.

2016 NHL mock draft: Early look at Round 1 | USA Today
Charlie McAvoy would be a great add to this team. It would be interesting to see what the Predators would do in the very unlikely situation that both he and Dante Fabbro were on the board. I’d go Fabbro based on team need right now because I don’t think there is much that separates the two players.

NHL Goalies Will Wear Streamlined Pants in 2016-17
I’m on board with anything that increases scoring.

NHL Mock Draft 2016: First-Round Pick Predictions For All 30 Teams | NESN.com
NESN has the Predators taking Luke Kunin out of Wisconsin. Kunin is one of those players who would be fantastic alongside Ryan Johansen. He’s fast, he’s relentless in his play and on the forecheck, and he can put the puck in the back of the net with his high-end shot.

NHL stage for Air Force at Arizona State this October | The Gazette
Hockey is expanding, folks.

NHL Scores Big with Sustainability | Department of Energy
Awesome! Good on the NHL to do their part.
