Thursday’s notes: NHL players wizing up on visors?

The Nashville Predators hit the ice tonight in Phoenix (9:00 p.m. Central), and I’m joining Willy Daunic for the pre- and post-game radio shows on 102.5 The Game, so be sure to give us a listen! Until then, peruse your morning hockey notes, which include encouraging news on the topic of player safety…

Mmm…. grilled cheese, and banking. Sounds like a good fit to me (well, grilled cheese and just about anything works, really). Seriously, Fifth Third is making a major push to reach out to Preds fans, so consider stopping by this event.

Around the Wide Wide World of Hockey

The Hockey News: THN Poll: NHL visor usage rises 10 percent from 2010-11
This is a pretty huge jump from one year to the next. Hopefully the players are realizing that safety is actually worth it. An age ago I interviewed Brendan Morrison while he was still in college, and he declared that as soon as he turned pro he’d play without a visor or cage, but it wasn’t too long before he suffered an injury and he’s worn a visor ever since. Hopefully more players can learn from other guys’ experiences here.
