Recapping a violent weekend in the NHL: ‘I just don’t like the consistency’
The past few days have seen an unusually large number of dangerous hits and injuries. In at least two cases, there could be suspensions handed down soon.
A lot happened this weekend, a lot of it not good.
Wings’ Perron suspended six games for retaliation
Detroit Red Wings forward David Perron on Monday was suspended six games without pay for delivering a cross-check to the head of Ottawa Senators defenseman Artem Zub on Saturday, the first suspension of the veteran winger’s 1,081-game NHL career.
That’s something, at least. (Also, I can’t believe this is Perron’s first suspension!)
Weekend Takeaways: ’Canes go closed-door; ugly plays and injuries mar games

Red Wings place Larkin on IR with ‘no timeframe’
The Detroit Red Wings placed captain Dylan Larkin on injured reserve Monday, two days after being knocked unconscious when he was cross-checked in the back of the head and neck by Ottawa Senators forward Mathieu Joseph at Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit has had some awful luck with injuries this year.
Chris Tanev’s health in question as Flames’ gritty effort comes up short
Even Leafs fans felt the Flames’ loss on Monday. Chris Tanev — subject of trade rumours, particularly involving his hometown Toronto — exited with injury just 15 seconds into the Flames’ painful loss, and his status remains unclear.
…and things aren’t going according to plan in Calgary either.

In his first start against the club he led to two Stanley Cup titles, veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick, 37, made 25 saves and the New York Rangers downed the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.
And another one for Quick.
