Tuesday’s Dump & Chase: Thanks Ladies!

Smashville News:

Are the Nashville Predators no longer buyers at the trade deadline? | AtoZ Sports – ”The Nashville Predators made two moves last week, bringing in forwards Brian Boyle and Cody McLeod. Do these moves signal the Preds are done dealing at this year’s trade deadline?” Alex with an attempt to set our David Poile trade expectations.

Women’s Hockey Development On the Rise in Nashville | NHL.com – This weekend was a great showcase for women’s hockey. Smashville fans definitely rose to the occasion—selling out Ford Ice Center for the Skills Contest and doubling the previous All-Star Game attendance record. The young lady behind me (we were sitting behind Chris Mason’s bench) talked non-stop for 50 minutes about the players and her youth league—she was so excited!

The Week That Was: Chapter 18 | On the Forecheck – Christopher with his look at last week’s fun. Hint: Last chapter’s “A” grade is a thing of the past.

Skates Off: P.K. Subban | NHL.com – “Predators superstar P.K. Subban discusses the power of hockey and what he feels makes the game special for himself and fans around the globe.” I know there are people who believe that P.K. is overpaid. Personally, I think the exposure and publicity he has brought to the Nashville Predators has been well worth any extra dollars.

Hahahahaha. These puppers crack me up!

Central Division News:

Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford plans to play, didn’t consider retirement | Chicago Sun-Times – I wish someone could convince him that he is playing with fire. Just because he feels better now, doesn’t mean he’ll be okay ten years from now. Also, one or two more of these and he might not be okay soon. I really, really, really, really hope he doesn’t get burned.

Losing ground: Avalanche looking to break out of recent funk | USAToday.com – My first thought was “Same headline, different team.” Seems like most of the West has taken a turn in an article like this.

Gordo on NHL: Blues apply pressure to Western Conference rivals | stltoday.com – “The Blues have passed one conference rival after another during their surge, putting their rivals under duress. Ducks coach Randy Carlyle got fired and others are feeling heat.” This article is actually about those feeling the heat. Keep scrolling for a look at what has changed with the St. Louis Blues.

Other Hockey News:

Meet the old enforcer keeping NHLers from hitting rock bottom | Sportsnet – “He fought on the ice. He fought for his sobriety. Now Brian McGrattan is fighting for the health and safety of players across the NHL.” I put this first even though it is a long read. I wonder if the Nashville Predators have looked into anything like what Brian McGrattan is doing for the Calgary Flames? (Okay, okay…and I just have to… He’s 37! He’s not old!)

PHT Power Rankings: 10 teams that could be most active at NHL trade deadline | Yahoo.com – Spoiler alert: Nashville is not on this list. See Alex’s article above. The rest of these are interesting though.

Super Slow Mo: Weeks 17 and 18 | NHL.com – Well, here we go again—I’m not expecting much. Ooooh—I really like the Canes’ third jerseys! Hi P.K. Subban. Temper, temper—not a good look. Waiting. Hey who was that, rewind, Craig Smith! Nice goal. Are the Vancouver Canucks trolling the Seattle Seahawks with their colors or is it the other way around? Waiting some more. Kuzy celly alert!! Hi Filip Forsberg. That’s the over the defense puck flip from a different angle. Aww kiddie Yoda. Awwww kiddie celly! Viktor Arvidsson better be included next week or I will revolt!

Hitchcock criticizes Oilers’ effort after loss to Sharks | NHL.com – The Edmonton Oilers are the new Dallas Stars. Next management will start calling people out by name, potentially even cussing.

NHL Player Loses Multiple Teeth During Game | PEOPLE.com – Hello James Neal—I know that they are fake, but this is becoming an annual event!

Former Capitals forward Joel Ward announces he is retired from professional hockey | RMNB – Joel Ward says that he considers himself retired from professional hockey. Can we have a Joel Ward game night? Good luck in life Wardo!
