Nashville Predators News

The first period was just plain awful, but Filip Forsberg and the Predators fought back to keep the game close until the final seconds. Our first regular season recap at the new site, so check it out for the full story behind Nashville’s 5-3 loss.

Our friends at Raw Charge, our FHF sister site for the Bolts recapped the game that was much closer and more in doubt than most Tampa Bay fans realized.

Anyone who saw the first half of the game yesterday knows just how important Juuse Saros is. He may have given up four goals yesterday, but the score could’ve easily been 4-0 after the first period. Rachel breaks down why the Finnish netminder is so important to this rebuilding team.

Wanna take a look at the box score? Despite the updates to the NHL app making it nearly unusable, the website still works!

I begin my third full season covering the Predators with Charlie Saunier and the Renegades of Puck. During the season, each episode comes out the night of a game, no matter how late. Get a full recap of the Tampa Bay game, a preview of tomorrow’s home opener against the Seattle Kraken, and my One Big Stat on Filip Forsberg.

OTF alum Ann Kimmel covers the Predators for The Hockey News (she may be the hardest working member of the Predators press – no exaggeration), and she’s got her recap of the game to offer more perspective.

About Last Night – Yesterday’s NHL Scores

Chicago 4, Pittsburgh 2

Our friends at Second City Hockey recap an excellent start to the season for both Chicago and new superstar Connor Bedard.

The folks at Pensburgh, however, were not as happy with the outcome, as the Penguins blew a 2-0 lead.

Vegas 4, Seattle 1

Did you SEE the banner ceremony? It was corny, extra, ridiculous – whatever term you want to call it, it was incredible. And the Knights showed no signs of slowing down after taking home the Stanley Cup last season.

One of my personal picks to contend for the Pacific Division, the Kraken looked sluggish most of the evening and couldn’t mount a comeback against the explosive Golden Knights.

Hockey is for Everyone – And we mean everyone

Despite what you think about the situation, there are a ton of unintended consequences of the NHL’s new policy. People like the creator of Pride Tape, the charities that benefitted from jersey auctions and local charities across North America have lost a vital way of surviving. We hope the NHL reconsiders sooner rather than later.

Around the NHL

The Stanley Cup banner ceremony in Vegas really was spectacular – from the moment they came in the league, they were determined to be loud, brash and shiny. And they did it.

Devastating news came out just hours before Nashville dropped the puck to start the NHL season. We wish Barry and his family the absolute best.

He was middling at best since being drafted in the fourth round in 2016 by the Sharks, but the Leafs liked what they saw on Gregor, who came to camp on a PTO, and gave him a deal. The folks in Canada seem to like the move, at least.

Stop. Answering. Phone. Calls. From. Colorado. All Joe Sakic does is fleece other teams, and despite Jones being assigned to the AHL, this was still a great deal by the Avs.

You Said It

After the game, we at OTF asked fans how they felt after the first game of the season. Here’s how you all responded.

Song of the Day

In honor of Prince Filip Forsberg and his two point effort last night, here’s some Prince for ya.
