Hockey News & Rants

Salary-cap increase makes for ‘more fun’ NHL offseason | Boston Herald
It’ll be fun they say.

Ranking top free agents into tiers, including John Tavares, John Carlson, Paul Stastny, James Neal | ESPN
Call it lingering “if we can’t have him no one can have him” feelings, but I don’t see Neal staying in Vegas.

NHL Awards 2018: PK Subban, Pekka Rinne Predators’ first winners? | The Tennessean
Good luck to them both! Two of the most deserving guys in the league.

There’s also some fun speculation that Subban might be gracing the cover on NHL 19…

Humboldt Broncos to reunite at NHL Awards show | NBC Sports
The strength of these boys is absolutely moving.

Will Hoffman, Panthers get last laugh? | NBC Sports
The fact that the Panthers are willing to give Hoffman a clean slate already is concerning. I’m all for the benefit of the doubt, but if it comes out that he knew or was involved in the harassment of the Karlsson family, that’s a big black mark on the Panther’s organization just by association.

Families are off limits, period. If Dale Tallon really thinks Hoffman and his fiancee will be welcome with open arms, no questions asked, he’s playing himself. Even if their names are cleared, the damage is done, people will always be skeptical of them.

Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s awards and who is up for them.

Ovechkin and Backstrom to Represent the Capitals at the 2018 NHL Awards | NHL
With the way they’ve been celebrating, I’m sure it will feel like they never even left!

Kings confident Doughty will sign extension | NHL
Not surprising, I can’t imagine the Kings would let someone like Doughty walk away easily.

2018 NHL Draft: Get to know Rasmus Dahlin, Andrei Svechnikov and the other top prospects | CBS Sports
Meet some of the top prospects ahead of the draft.

Artemi Panarin involved in trade rumors again | NBC Sports
I don’t blame the kid for wanting to explore his options before signing an extension with Columbus. He’s good, and his season with the Jackets just proves he can survive without the likes of Patrick Kane. Any team that can get their hands on him will be gaining a huge asset.
