Wednesday’s news: Happy Hockey Hump Day

Look for lots of coworkers with sore hands and wrists today, as yesterday saw the debut of EA Sports’ NHL 11 (for XBox 360 and PS3), as well as NHL SlapShot for the Wii (Amazon affiliate links). Early reaction seems to be pretty positive, and I can tell you that NHL SlapShot is definitely a fun time. I played it last night with my sons (age 7 & 8), and while their first games got off to rocky starts, the learning curve is pretty easy and the controls, while seeming a bit odd at first, become quite natural and intuitive.

I’ll post a deeper look at the game after a few days, but it seems like a winner so far.

After the jump let’s get right today’s hockey news. We’ve got what is hopefully the final word on Dan Ellis‘ misadventures on Twitter, a review of the wings on the Nashville roster, and an early projection of top scorers in the NHL this upcoming season…

Now that single games are on sale, readers of On the Forecheck can take advantage of a special offer for cheap Nashville Predators tickets.
