Wednesday’s notes: “Special” day for the Preds

Today at training camp is all about special teams, with the guys hitting the ice at 11:30 a.m. for a PP/PK scrimmage (update: the Preds’ site now shows two practices at 9:30 and 11:30 instead). As we all know, complaining about the Predators’ power play is a longstanding tradition in Nashville, but what really surprised last season was how bad the penalty kill turned out to be. So take your lunch hour at Centennial Sportsplex and see what’s cooking for this year.

After the jump, we’ve got your morning dose of hockey news, including an interview with sensational prospect Taylor Beck, more speculation about the Preds’ new radio partner, and a Q&A with the NHL’s Director of Social Media, in which he discusses the role of platforms like Facebook and Twitter in the league’s effort to grow the game.

Readers of On the Forecheck can take advantage of a special offer to buy cheap Nashville Predators tickets.
