Who Is the Greatest #36 in Nashville Predators History?

J.J. Daigneault

Daignault is one of those guys who really surprises you when you look at his career. Never a big-name star, he did enjoy a nice long run in the NHL, playing 899 games over 16 seasons. He came to Nashville as part of the 1998 Expansion Draft, and played 35 games as a Predators defenseman (2 goals, 2 assists) before being traded to Phoenix.

He does hold the distinction of scoring the first power play (and game-winning) goal in Nashville’s franchise history, which helped lift the Preds to a 3-2 win over Carolina on October 13, 1998.

Niklas Andersson

Mr. Andersson was a wayward pro, playing for six different teams across six different seasons, which included a 7-game stint with the Predators in early 2000. He was picked up on waivers after being dropped by the Islanders on January 20, notched one assist during his time here, then was waived by the Preds (and claimed back by New York) on February 19.

Sean Haggerty

Another waiver claim from Long Island, Haggerty spent the 2000-2001 in the Nashville system, playing 76 games in Milwaukee (where he was pretty productive) but just 3 for the Preds in what would be his final NHL season.

Robert Schnabel

After being claimed off waivers from Phoenix in January 2001, Schnabel wore #42 initially but switched to #36 for the 2003-2004 season. In 20 games on the Nashville blueline, he chipped in 3 assists before heading to Europe that summer.

Peter Olvecky

Olvecky donned the #36 for just one game in Nashville, an October 31, 2009 4-2 victory over Dallas. It was the only NHL game he played that season, he spent the rest of it with Milwaukee after signing with the Preds as a free agent the previous summer.
