After being placed on waivers yesterday by the Nashville Predators, Zack Stortini has cleared (per TSN’s Bob McKenzie) and should be assigned shortly to Milwaukee of the AHL (where, as noted at Inside Smashville, he played several years ago). His role on the team as enforcer has been supplanted by Brian McGrattan, who was claimed off waivers from Anaheim yesterday.
At least if called upon in the event of injuries on the current roster, the Preds know that “Huggy Bear” can skate a few shifts on the 4th line and bring some hustle to the team. Until then, he’ll have to make an impression with the Milwaukee Admirals.
He would not have to clear waivers on the way back up from Milwaukee if needed.
Erat’s Still Out
In further roster-related news, Josh Cooper reports that Martin Erat is not practicing today, so we can probably count him out for tomorrow’s home opener vs. Phoenix.
